7 Steps To Take After Drug Detoxification

Once you’ve completed your drug detox program, it can be easy to fall back into your old ways of using drugs and alcohol again. Don’t fall into that trap! Instead, follow these 7 steps to take after drug detoxification to ensure that you have the best chance of achieving long-term sobriety after the physical process of detoxification is complete.

1) Talk to Your Doctor

Make sure to let your doctor know that you’re thinking about getting help for addiction, and ask what options you have. In most cases, an addict who admits that they need help is given a choice between inpatient and outpatient drug detox treatment. These two treatment options are different in intensity, but both offer addicts all of the tools they need to succeed at recovery. Let your doctor know which option you prefer so he or she can recommend a centre that matches your preferences.

2) Consider Seeking Long Term Addiction Treatment

Not everyone who completes drug detox is able to overcome their addiction. Some people require long-term treatment to aid them in their journey toward sobriety.
